As complete patient medical care is central to the work at Cummings Veterinary Medical Center, we offer:
Cummings Veterinay Medical Center, made up of seven academic teaching hospitals and clinics, offer patients an opportunity to receive high-caliber, advanced and specialty veterinary care while providing our students with a rich clinical learning environment.
The Clinical Trials Office at Cummings Veterinary Medical Center has partnered with a number of industry and academic entities to expand the breadth and expertise of studies at Tufts:
Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard was launched in 2004 to improve human health by using genomics to advance their understanding of the biology and treatment of human disease, and to help lay the groundwork for a new generation of therapies. The institute was founded to seize the opportunity that arose from the Human Genome Project -- the international effort that successfully deciphered the entire human genetic code. Broad Institute spans some of Boston’s leading institutions (Harvard, MIT, and Harvard-affiliated hospitals) and scientific disciplines (biology, chemistry, medicine, computer science, and engineering). The Broad community s committed to advancing research in areas including infectious disease, cancer, psychiatric research, and cardiovascular disease.
One Health is the integrative effort of multiple disciplines working together locally, nationally, and globally to attain optimal health for people, animals, and the shared environment. The Clinical and Translational Science Award One Health Alliance (COHA) is comprised of veterinary schools partnered with medical and other colleagues. COHA’s mission is to advance their understanding of diseases shared by humans and animals. The alliance leverages the expertise of physicians, research scientists, veterinarians, and other professionals to find solutions for medical problems and to address the well-being of humans, animals, and the environment.
Since its founding in 1947, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston has been committed to providing adults and children with cancer with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research. The mission of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is to provide expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases. As an affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute, the Institute also provides training for new generations of physicians and scientists, designs programs that promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations, and disseminates innovative patient therapies and scientific discoveries to their target community across the United States and throughout the world.
Massachusetts General Hospital aims to deliver the very best health care in a safe, compassionate environment; to advance that care through innovative research and education; and to improve the health and well-being of the diverse communities they serve. Mass General has the largest hospital-based research program in the United States. Their research program spans more than 30 clinical departments and centers across the hospital. Approximately 1,200 clinical trials are taking place at Mass General at any given time and their research drives discoveries and breakthroughs in basic and clinical research, translating into new and better treatments for patients locally and around the globe.
The mission of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century. They are also driven to bring knowledge to bear on the world’s great challenges. Research at MIT aims to develop innovative solutions to the world’s most daunting challenges. From addressing the energy needs of tomorrow to improving cancer therapies, MIT’s research efforts are enhanced through creative collaborations with leading research institutes and consortia around the world.
The mission of the Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center is to serve the citizens of the State of Ohio through the support of the clinical education of veterinary students, post graduate veterinarians and others, and promote animal well-being through the operation of a state-of-the-art veterinary medical center. As a comprehensive referral center for veterinary practitioners, the hospital is an integral part of the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University, and is among the largest facilities of its kind in the world, with more than 35,000 animals examined each year.
More than 2,100 employees at The Jackson Laboratory are working toward one goal: To discover precise genomic solutions for disease and empower the global biomedical community in their shared quest to improve human health. The Jackson Laboratory is accelerating disruptive scientific breakthroughs tailored to the needs of individual patients and closing in on the genetic and molecular courses of disease. They also educate current and future scientists and empower the global biomedical community by providing critical resources, data, tools and services. JAX has a mammalian genetics headquarters in Bar Harbor, ME; a facility in Sacramento, CA; and a new genomic medicine facility in Farmington, CT that is enabling the Laboratory to translate its fundamental science into the clinic. In addition to its National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center, the Laboratory also has initiated a cancer research laboratory in Seoul, Korea.
Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (Tufts CTSI) was established in 2008. Tufts CTSI reflects Tufts’ unique emphasis on community in biomedical research by including multiple hospitals and health plans, industry leaders, community organizations, and other participants who share their vision, in Massachusetts and nationally. With a mission to identify, stimulate and expedite innovative clinical and translational research Tufts CTSI’s goal of improving the public’s health links scientists and scholars from a wide range of disciplines with clinical investigators, policy makers, and industry and community leaders to collaborate in conducting innovative clinical and translational research. They further cultivate the collaboration and innovation by offering education, research expertise, and financial support to investigators.
Tufts Medical Center is an internationally-respected academic medical center with a mission of advancing knowledge and training students to become future investigators with one goal in mind - quickly turning innovative research into pioneering care. The Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute is a federally-funded center dedicated to reducing the time between discoveries in the lab and therapies for patients. Tufts Medical Center’s expansive research program includes groundbreaking bench research, clinical trials and developments in health policy.
The University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) is the commonwealth’s first and only public academic health sciences center, home to three graduate schools. Their mission is to advance the health and well-being of the people of the commonwealth and the world through pioneering education, research and health care delivery with their clinical partner, Umass Memorial Health Care.
